The following Moratorium was adopted by the JSD Board of Directors on 8/20/2020:
Moratorium on New Water Connections for the Communities of Oak Park, Hill-n-Dale, Woodlawn Circle and all Adjacent Properties off of Shelton Road
NCDEQ Public Water Supply, through its Rules and Regulations, limits the number of connections based upon water main line size and length of line.
The communities of Oak Park, Hill-n-Dale, Woodlawn Circle and all adjacent properties off of Shelton Road in the Junaluska Sanitary District have met or exceeded this limit per the NCDEQ requirements.
Therefore, in order to comply with the NCDEQ Water Supply System Permit issued to Junaluska Sanitary District, Junaluska Sanitary District imposes a temporary moratorium on all new water connections within the communities of Oak Park, Hill-n-Dale, Woodlawn Circle and all adjacent properties off of Shelton Road until the water main infrastructure is improved to handle new customers.
Junaluska Sanitary District is actively pursuing a plan to increase capacity in the aforementioned areas that will comply with NCDEQ requirements.
- This moratorium is only for new connections and does not affect any existing connections in the aforementioned areas.
- This regulatory issue has no effect on existing customers water supply or water quality.
Note: Per JSD Policy, for a property to be on the District’s sewer system they must be connected to our water system. Given these temporary restrictions and JSD’s policy, no new sewer connections will be allowed during this time as well.
